HIP HIP HOORAY! I just got an email from the History department director, and not only did I get in, but they want to give me a fellowship! Three years' full tuition and 19,500 annual stipend! Way better than I was hoping from any of the three schools I've applied to! I'll wait and see what U of I and NIU say, but I don't think they'll top the fellowship. I'll keep you all posted--just wanted to let everyone know....and brag and celebrate!

Congrats, it's good to see all your hard work paying off. I hope you get the fellowship, and if not there's always the assistanceship they offered you. :-) I'm proud of you.

WHOOP DE DOOP!!!!! Congratulations, Nate! that is excellent, and shows good sense on the part of SIU :) not that I am biased or anything. That is a wonderful offer and has great potential for you. SIU would be lucky to have you on board. In an era of state cutbacks when colleges are being asked to trim their budgets, an offer like that Means Something. Hooray! Good for you.
